RE: Welcome to Starfleet Command

On behalf of all the officers at Starfleet Command, I welcome you to the command center of the United Federation of Planets Starfleet. You might be asking yourself just what Starfleet Command is and what they do. Allow me to explain just what we are, the purpose we serve, with a brief analogy. If, for a moment you think of Starfleet as a true life form. A sentient life form that things, breaths, moves, and feels. We would be the central nervous system. In this capacity we direct the functions and actions of the body. To be less abstract, we, the admirals and generals that make up Starfleet Command, make decisions about the direction and administrative policies that govern the whole fleet. Some of the officers have very specialized roles, much like the nerves that carry signals to muschles to move or those nerves that carry signals for hot and cold. Starfleet Command has beings that specialize in intelligences, starbase operations, research, security, etc.
